Born 27.12.1856 eldest son of James Wilson, nurseryman, St Andrews and Margaret Hardie. [Gardener]
Career
Trained in Glasgow as a draughtsman with a view to becoming a seagoing engineer, but took to gardening. Worked Charlcot Park, Warwickshire and in France with Messrs Le Moine. Horticultural Instructor under Northumberland County Council then returned to St Andrews to work with his father and took over business of Greenside Nursery on his death in 1905. He carried it on until 1929 and also had a shop in South Street. He was also managing director of Woodburn Laundry. [Gardener]
