Born 9.9.1844 son of David James Smeaton of Abbey Park, St Andrews and Elizabeth Charlotte Mackenzie.

Career

Went to India in 1867 and held various appointments in the North West Province. Went to Burma[/Myanmar] in 1879 and became Chief Secretary in 1887. Retired November 1902. [Civil servant]

C.S.I. [Companion of the Order of the Star of India] 1895.

Member of Parliament [M.P.] for Stirling 1906-1910. [Politician]

Death

Died 19.4.1910.
