Born 26.10.1853 son of George Ritchie, minister at Jedburgh and Elizabeth Plaafute Dudgeon.

Career

Studied at Edinburgh University - M.A. 1875 and Oxford University.

Fellow of Jesus College, Oxford 1878-1894.

LL.D. Edinburgh 1898.

Professor of Logic, St Andrews University 11.10.1894 - 3.2.1903 (died). [University professor]

Publications mainly on Ethics and political philosophy.

Enquiry of his son, Professor Arthur David Ritchie, in 1964 revealed that his personal papers were not preserved.
