Born 23.9.1783 2nd son of Principal James Playfair and Margaret Lyon.
Career
Entered army and went to India. Adjutant 8th Bengal Infantry 1807. Paymaster General, Mauritius 1809. Lieutenant 12th Bengal Infantry 1824. Retired 1830 to St Andrews. [Soldier]
A town councillor for a time and an elder in the Established Church.
Death
Died 31.1.1852.
