Born 1856 at Elkhorn, Wisconsin [U.S.A.] son of Finlay Matheson and Anna Meigs Lighthall.
Career
American chemist, businessman and philanthropist. President of the Biological Laboratory, Brooklyn and Scientific Adviser to the Board of Health of the City of New York.
Established fund for the study of sleeping sickness. Presented £2000 to St Andrews University in October, 1920 for bursaries for chemistry students.

Died 15.5.1930
