Born 17.1.1790 son of John McNeil of Colonsay and Hester McNeil.

Career

Succeeded his father in 1846. Acquired island of Gigha and sold Colonsay and Oransay to his brother, Duncan. [Landowner]

Death

Died in the wreck of the steamer Orion near Port Patrick 18.6.1850. [See Orion (paddle steamer) in Wikipedia.]
