Baptised 2.12.1807 son of Alexander MacBain, land steward, Logie, Forfar/Kirriemuir and Isabel Spalding.

Career

Studied Edinburgh University - medical student 1823-1824.

Assistant Surgeon Royal Navy 13.8.1827. Surgeon 23.11.1841. retired on half pay 1848. Practised at Elie then Leith, then Trinity, Edinburgh. [Doctor]

F.R.S.E.. Published on palaeontology and marine biology.

Contributed to Wood’s East Neuk.

Death

Died 24.3.1879.
