Lecturer in mathematics and physical science Watt Institution, Dundee 1829-. [University lecturer]

Teacher Dundee prison 1841-1858.

Philologist and electrician. Proposed submarine telegraph to America 1843. Got government pension of £100 in 1858. [Inventor]
