Birth/childhood

Born 13.1.1808 son of James Hutton, wright, St Andrews and Margaret Horsburgh.

Studied at English Moravian Institution, Manchester.

Career

Emigrated to New York in 1827 and went into dry goods business. Retired in the 1860’s and devoted himself to literary pursuits. Assembled a library of over 5000 volumes.

Death

Died 13.7.1874.
