Born 1725 2nd son of John Hay of Hayston and Grizzel Thompson.
Career
L.R.C.P.E. 5.2.1765. F.R.C.P.E. 5.8.1766. Treasurer of the Royal College of Surgeons. Physician in Edinburgh. [Doctor]
Succeeded his father in 1762. Became Sir James Hay in 1805 as 4th Bt. [baronet] of Smithfield, having established a claim to revive the baronetcy. [Landowner]

Died 21.10.1810.
