Birth/childhood
Born 8.4.1836 son of Provost James Farnie, shipowner, Burntisland and Margaret Paterson.
Career
Edited Fifeshire Journal 1862 -1863. Author of Golfer’s Manual, 1857. Became a well known dramatic author and published many plays. Largely responsible for the vogue of French light opera in England 1870 -1890. Involved in much litigation on matrimonial affairs. [Editor, playwright]
Death
Died 21.9.1889 at Paris [France] and buried at St Andrews.
