Born c. 1796 son of Arthur Edie/Adie, merchant, Dundee. Possibly baptised 27.11.1795 son of Arthur Edie, Leuchars and Margaret Gib.

Suggested in a list in Library Receipt Book 1791-1841 Professors that he may have been a minister in Greenock by about the 1820’s.
