Said to be from St Andrews, but possibly the man from Auchtertool who was a divinity student at Edinburgh University 1823/1824 and may also be the man who was M.D. Edinburgh 1826 and dedicated his thesis to Professor Thomas Jackson, St Andrews.

If so perhaps baptised 28.8.1803 son of John Brown, Auchterderran and Margaret Welch.

Career
