In 1879 gave £1,000 to increase endowment of chair of medicine.

Settled in Melbourne 1852, but returned to England 1853, then served with Turkish contingent in Crimea. Thereafter settled again in Melbourne. Elected to legislative council in 1883. Led a controversial life. [Soldier]

Death

Died 30.6.1891.
