Birth/childhood

Born c. 1846 son of Alexander Balsillie, blacksmith and Catherine Barclay. Claims his native place was Kirkcaldy, but not found.

Career

Teacher Wallace Hall Academy, Dumfriesshire then junior master in Merchant Company Schools, Edinburgh and finally for many years, English master in George Watson’s College for boys.

Death

Died 22.2.1897 aged 52.
