Advocate 1830. Sheriff of Stirlingshire 1853. Solicitor general 1858. Lord Advocate 1858. M.P. for Linlithgowshire 1859. Went to bench as Lord Jervisewood in 1859. Left bench in 1874. Member of University Court. [Lawyer, politician]

Death

Died Dryburgh House, Roxburghshire 23.7.1879.
