Façade of the Basilica

The courtyard and façade of the Basilica. Above the entrance, each on a massive pedestal, are the statues of the Old Testament Kings. SIGÜENZA, the Jeronymite historian and librarian of the Escorial, gives a detailed description of the six statues and of their iconological scheme.
