The theme for this section of podcasts is the shifting balance between organic or somatic causes and mental or psychological ones. As new discoveries were made, physicians, scientists, and others did not simply abandon existing theory, but looked for ways to reconcile innovations with what they already knew. Today’s podcast explores the processes behind a move away from a humoral balance theory of health towards nervous and neurological interpretations.
