Agustín Ortiz

Lifespan: (1856 – 1918)

Biography

Agustín Ortiz (1856-1918) was a soldier born in Alamos, Sonora. He was active in Sonoran politics and during the administration of his brother Carlos Rodrigo gained the post of postmaster general and the charge of one of the battalions of the National Guard of the State. From 1882 onwards he fought against the Yaqui and Maya peoples taking part in the action of Capetamaya in October. He died in Mexico City.
