Biography

José Antonio Heredia (1800-1856) was a soldier born in Chilpancingo, Guerrero. He began his military career in the cavalry regiment of San Miguel, in 1815. In 1821 he joined the famed Army of the Three Guarantees (Ejército Trigarante) after being active in various military engagements. He commanded the second batallion and that of the Constitution and a section in Tampico under the orders of Pedro Landero and a brigade in 1833 serving alongside Pedro Lemus. Heredia was commander general of Durango for the period 1843-1844 and in 1854. He died in 1856.
