Francisco Hevia

Biography

Francisco Hevia (?-1821) was a royalist military leader. He reached the rank of colonel during the War of Independence during which time he became notorious for being one of the most cruel and daring of the royalist commanders. At the height of his powers he served as the military chief in Orizaba. Hevia died on 16 May 1821 attempting to retake the city of Córdoba defended by José Joaquín Herrera.
