Ramón Guzmán

Lifespan: (1825 – 1884)

Biography

Ramón Guzmán (1825?-1884) was a businessman born in Jalapa, Veracruz. He moved to Mexico City where he was a prominent figure in both politics and the world of commerce. He founded a company which constructed the urban railway in Mexico City and other branches of the central railway network. Together with Antonio Escandón he also built the railway running from Mexico City to León, Guanajuato. Guzmán died shortly before the official opening of the central railway network was completed in March 1884.
