Leandro Domínguez

Lifespan: (1825 – 1868)

Biography

Leandro Domínguez (1825?-1868) was born in Campeche. In 1847 he joined the National Guard to combat the North American invasion in Veracruz. In 1857 Domínguez returned to Cam¬peche to join in with the negotiations for the separation of Yucatán into an autonomous State. In 1864 Domínguez fought against the empire of Maximilian for which he was exiled to Havana. In 1866 he was tracked down in Mérida for disaffection from the Empire. In 1847 he returned again to fight along side General Cepeda Peraza.
