Joaquín Corella

Biography

Joaquín Corella (1819-1872) was born in Arizpe, Sonora. In 1833 as a cadet in the presidential military company he fought against Colonel Arregui and in 1835 he was clerk to the departmental junta of Sonora and a supporter of General Pesqueira. Corella was on various occasions local deputy. He was prefect of the department of Arizpe in 1865, and was a congressional deputy in 1872 when the reforms to the 1857 Constitution were implemented. Corella died in Hermosillo, Sonora.
