Miguel Blanco

Biography

Miguel Blanco (1816-1900) was a lawyer and soldier born in Monclova (Coahuila). He undertook his studies in Mexico City, where he graduated as a lawyer. Blanco fought against the North American invasion. During the war of the Reform he fought alongside the constitutionalists. At the time of Maximilian I’s Mexican Empire, having reached the rank of Brigadier General in 1858 he retired to his hacienda of his home state of Tamaulipas, where he stayed put until the triumph of the Republic.
