Manuel Andrade

Lifespan: (1800 – 1869)

Biography

Manuel Andrade (1800-1869) was a soldier born in Puebla who became a Cadet of the Squadron of Tulancingo although in February 1814 he was at the service of the Spanish government. After independence he joined the Mexican army and in 1823 he pronounced in favour of the Plan de Casa Mata. Andrade fought in several engagements in defense of the government. However, in July 1840 he pronounced against Anastasio Bustamante’s government. During the Mexican-American War (1846-48) he participated with the cavalry in the Battle of Molino del Rey.
