Esteban Alatorre

Biography

Esteban Alatorre (1832-1896) was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco where he studied in a seminary and moved on to Law School graduating on 28 November 1857. He was nominated by General Ceballos, as member of a commission to oversee the court cases that were held in the capital of the State whilst it was under siege during the War of the Reforma. Alatorre reached a prestigious position in Jalisco, although he rejected the offer of several important posts, including that of President of Tribunal of Justice. He was the author of an essay on the subject of mercantile law.
