The couple were Thomas Hodgson of North Willingham Parish, and Elizabeth Wright of Walesby. The entry starts with a hash of crossing out, and K then makes exactly the same mistake as he made at Albury on 3rd October 1793 writes "by me Thomas Robert llalthus. Rector" instead of "by Banns", and has to cross it out and sign again in the proper place. The couple were illiterate, and so was one of the witnesses, Catherine Drake; John Robinson signs his name in a childish hand. (N.B. I think the Walesby registers at ·this time were all written by the incumbents or curates, not clerks).• 22nd May 1804 J4ark Lacy of the parish of North Willingham and Mary Bell of Walesby. This time the entry is in order, T. Robert Malthus Rector. The couple were illiterate, witnesses John Bell & John Robinson signed. . ?
