John Michael Pullen (1933 - 2022) was a historian of economic ideas, especially the ideas of Thomas Robert Malthus. Born on 9th of February, 1933, John Pullen studied at the University of Sydney (B. Ee.), the University of Liverpool (M.A.), and the University of Newcastle, Australia (Ph.D.). His Ph.D. thesis on Malthus's Principles of Political Economy (1820, 1836) was the first step in the preparation of the Variorum Edition of this work. He was for several decades employed at the University of New England (NSW, Australia), teaching courses in the history of economics.
