David Learmonth was authorised by Count Ernst of Mansfeld to levy Scottish Regiments on his behalf for service with the King and Queen of Bohemia. Learmonth represented Mansfeld when contact was made with Sir Donald Mackay [SSNE 93]. He was to furnish ships for transport of Mackay's men from Scotland to Gluckstadt in September 1627.
