Jon Jorgensen Pfeiff (He was of Scottish decent, most likely the son of Jorgen Jonsen Pfeiff [SSNE 8538]. He was an influential man in Stavanger, amassing numerous titles including "ildstedsmann, stadskaptein of overkjopmann" etc. He was probably born c.1634, deduced from the fact that he was 28 years old when made "lagrettesman" in Stavanger in 1662. He became "overkjopmann in 1667, a goldsmith in 1668 and received a royal letter as major (borgermester) in 1669. He appeared to have owned the "Fortuna" which was involved in a numberof privateering ventures in the 1670s.
