William Yorstoun served as a captain under Colonel Henry Balfour in March 1575. In February 1577 he made a complaint to the Scottish Privy Council, saying that to raise his company he sold all his furniture and his house in Edinburgh. He stated he did not receive his wages from Colonel Balfour and that he had been put to the horn and asked for relief from his creditors.
