William West was an English officer. He served as a volunteer in the companies of Sir John Norreys at the battle of Rijmenam in 1578, then under captains Giles Gainsford [SSNE 8127] and William Martin. He then served as an ensign under John Hunnings and Charles Hunnings and as a corporal under Lord Willoughby. He served as a lieutenant in Essex's expedition to Normandy in 1591 and then as Provost-Martial under Sir Roger Williams until he was forced to retire from wounds sustained at the siege of Bergen-op-Zoom in 1588 and in France.
