Sir Adolphus Meetkerke was a Flemish diplomat and exile in England. He was the president of Flander and an amabassador to Queen Elizabeth in the 1580s. After a failed coup in the Dutch Republic in favor of the Earl of Leicester, he remained in England. He had four sons, all of whom served in the Dutch army: Adolph [SSNE 8439], Nicolaas (killed at Deventer, 1591), Anthony (killed at Zutphen, 1586), and Baldwin (killed at Deventer, 1591).Sir Adlophus died in London on 6 October 1591, aged 60.
