Williamina Lawson was a Dutch woman whose husband, George Lawson, was a sergeant in Major John Sommerville’s company of Colonel George Ramsay’s regiment of the Scots-Dutch Brigade. George Lawson was slain at the battle of Killiecrankie on 27th July 1689, a major engagement of the Highland War (1689-92). As a result, Williamina Lawson submitted a petition with her mother Agnes Lindsay [SSNE 8289], whose husband was also killed at the battle, to the Scottish Privy Council. The petition requested funds to facilitate their return to the Dutch Republic. On 11th October 1689, both women were granted five Rijksdaalders each to partially pay for their passage home.
