Text source
Agnes Lindsay was a Dutch woman whose husband, Thomas Winraham, was a soldier in Major John Sommerville’s company of Colonel George Ramsay’s regiment of the Scots-Dutch Brigade. Thomas was slain the battle of Killiecrankie on 27th July 1689, a part of the Scottish Highland War (1689-92). As a result, Agnes and her daughter Williamina Lawson [SSNE 8290], whose husband was also killed at the battle, petitioned the Scottish Privy Council for funds to return to the Dutch Republic. On 11th October 1689, both women were granted five Rijksdaalders each to assist in paying for their passage home.
