Captain Ralph Selby was one of the original captains in the Buccleuch's [SSNE 5010] new regiment in the Scots-Dutch Brigade. He took oath on December 20th, 1603 and took command of 150 men with a pay of £1925 by 1604, although in actuality the command may have only numbered as many as 54 men. He was succeeded by his lieutenant, George Home [SSNE 8042] on 23 July 1605. He was reccomended by James VI on 1 August 1603.
