William Cooper (ca.1559-?) was one of six instrumentalists engaged in 1591 for the service of Duke Karl (later Karl IX of Sweden) Vasa to provide entertainment during the Duke's nuptials in 1592. Cooper was 31 years old when he arrived at the Nykoping court. He received 110 daler, 20 ore and 16pr in payment for his employment from 7/9 1591-5/10 1592; in addition to this he also received a suit of clothing. Cooper had apparently been a student at Oxford.
