John Taylor was ship's carpenter on the ship The Three Crowns of Stockholm. He gave testimoy to the Admiralty Court of England in regard to the status of this ship, and that the master of the same was a Scotsman called John Agnew, a citizen of Stockholm for some four year. Taylor stated that he himself resided in Leith for about seven years, but was from "the North of Scotland", and was a subject of Queen Anne (actually, the deposition says "subject of the Queen of England"!). It seems he lived in Scotland but was a long term member of this Swedish ship's crew. The ship had left Leith in ballast for Bordeaux, then St Martins. The ship was taken in Gallway in Ireland on return trip to Gothenburg, possibly trying to off load her cargo of salt early.
