Text source
Thomas Hervie was most likely the son of the Scottish merchant, Alexander Hervie [SSNE 7306] who is mentioned as a merchant in the town of Åbo (Turku in Finnish) in Finland 1624. If he was the son of this man, his mother was most likely Sofia Hansdotter and he would then have had a sister, Elisabet. Thomas Hervie (buried on 20th October 1687 in Åbo)is mentioned as an inn-servant in Åbo 1624 and was later an innkeeper and tax collector in the city. He married a woman named Elisabet.Information for Alexander and Thomas is drawn from: Veli-Pekka Toropainen, Skottirotta ja Ruotsin koira - Turun ulkomaalainen porvaristo vuosina 1600-1660 (Genos, 2003), p. 209.
