Robert Gordon, [Brian Lockhart informs us it was probably Gordon of Tillielt] Scotsman, settled at Warsaw at the end of the seventeenth century, and donated £112 to the Marischal College restoration fund in 1692. According to Lockhart this Gordon had settled in Warsaw in the early 1680s and supplied the Court and nobility there with tea and other luxury items. He was married to Elizabeth, daughter of Richear Hearn, in 1687, but there were no children. He is mentioned in Book of Propinquity and in Margaret Mackenzie's Letters after his death when a nephew (Alexander Charles) was granted a passport to Poland on 5 august 1712 to look after his uncle's effects. Cf. Robert Gordon [SSNE 6484].Many thanks to Brian Lockhart for all this additional and clarifying information. T. Fischer, The Scots in Germany (Edinburgh, 1902), p.269.
