CASAUBON, ISAAK [SSNE 6620]
Text source
Issak Casaubon came from Switzerland and lived in London as a protege of James VI & I in 1614. He argued that hermetic literature was the work of Christian writers and not, as believed contemporarily, that it was ancient Egyptian, Hebrew or pre-Christian philosophy albeit based on such traditions. His views were not accepted for over a century though are now believed to be correct.A.C.F.
