John Aland (c.1559-1641) was a Catholic priest born in Poland-Lithuania of Scottish parents. He was ordained in 1590 and became principle of the Gniezno school before lecturing in rhetoric in Jaroslaw. In 1600, Aland moved to Nieswiez/Niasvizh [in present day Belarus] where he acted as school prefect and court missionary to Mikolaj Radziwill. Aland authoured two works and translated several others.A.
