SCOTT, WILLIAM [SSNE 6592]
Text source
William Scott and his brother (?) John [SSNE 6593] were noted as having left Scotland behind in April 1646 due to the political turbulence of the 1640s, leaving behind "best estates and greatest traffique", to go to Norway. It was perhaps the same William Scott noted as being "in Bergen" and paying an inheritance on 11 August 1631 at Elsinore. If so it might explain Norway as a destination as he already had links there.Aberdeen Council Letters, vol.3 (London, 1952), p.44, April 1646; Norske Slekthistorisk Tidsskrift, vol XIV (1954), p.358.
