Thomas Thued of Harwick, England was engaged in fishing in Danish-Norwegian waters around Vardohus and Iceland. In 1584 he and Raymond King [SSNE 6555]received a royal letter from King Frederick II commending him for always having paid the relevant tolls, and allowing him to continue to fish in these areas unmolested as long as he did not abuse his privileges to undertake other forms of trade. Although Christian IV passed a law banning all foreigners from fishing in the northern part of his kingdoms, Tweed received an exemption from this ban in November 1591
