James Chambers was a baron from Britain. He served as a royal captain of horse. In 1673 his status as a nobleman was confirmed in Poland-Lithuania as a reward for his valour. His coat of arms displayed on his seal - recorded by Wittyg, (W. Wittyg, 'Nieznana szlachta polska i jej herby'), points to a Scottish origin.
