Johan Barckman till Leijonbergh (c.1620-1691) served as the Swedish resident in London from 1661. He later matriculated at Oxford University in 1665 and was still in correspondence with the Swedish Chancellor Magnus Gabriel De la Gardie in 1669, re the merits of the British ambassador, Mr Carlisle (whose embassy to Sweden was a disaster as his translator was useless) versus Philip Meadow, Cromwell's former minister to Denmark. He died in London in 1691. Many of his letters survive in the Swedish Riksarkiv 'Anglica' collection. However some also exist in Scotica, including complaints to Charles I surrounding the siezure of the Swedish vessel 'Dolphin', dated 7 July 1672. Numerous other letters to and from Leijonbergh exist in this folder.
