Text source
Alexander Hume was first in Danish-Norwegian service as an ensign in Lord Spynie's [SSNE 177] regiment from which he received his reckoning by 18/10/1628. He then entered Swedish service and joined Alexander Hamilton's [SSNE 380] regiment, which then became John Hamilton's regiment. A reformed ensign Alexander Home appears in William Baillie's [SSNE 1909] regiment in 1631-3

Two men of the name of Alexander Home served in the Army of the Solemn League and Covenant in 1644, and both were veterans of the Thirty Years' War. One served as major in Baclarres Horse and the other as lieutenant colonel in Welden's Horse. It is impossible to say which is which, but this man was probably one of the two, the other undoubtedly [SSNE 578].
