Listed as born circa 1646, Johan Forbus served as a captain in Smålenske infantry regiment between 1665-70. Thereafter he served as a captain in Bergenhus infantry regiment in 1670-1707 after serving as captain in chief for several companies in the regular or reserve regiment. He married Dorothea Lucht and died sometime before August 1707. The following February his widow, Dorothea Luft, was granted 4 rixdaler monthly as a pension. He had six children with three mothers including a daughter, Anna Dorothea Forbus, who inherited from her mother in 1709. .
