Henry Graham was a lieutenant in Captain Erskine's company but succeeded Captain John Shortes [SSNE 8016] in Colonel James Erskine's [SSNE 8002] regiment c. 26th September 1644, a position confirmed on 28th November 1645. In 1662, Henry Graham took his oath as Sergeant-Major under Colonel Louis Erskine. By 1665, he was transferred to Walter Scott's [SSNE 4997] regiment. He had been promoted by 1672 to lieutenant-colonel. On 1 April 1673, Graham took over as Colonel and Chief of the senior Scots regiment in the Dutch Brigade, a position he held until 1677. The previous year, Henry Graham had been admitted as a Burgess of Dundee. This contradicts claims levelled at him that in 1665 he, along with several other officers had denied being Scotsmen and their loyalty to Charles II due to the ongoing Anglo-Dutch war. Ferguson contends he may have been killed at the siege of Maastricht in 1676. He was succeeded by Hugh MacKay [SSNE 5005].
